I met Julián through a friend of mine and only recently realized “Wait, he’s a foreigner in Kosovo, too”. Why I don’t ask him to join my series of Kosovo Foreigners Say. He has become one of us, and maybe that’s why I didn’t think of it sooner. Anyways, here I come with the 9th foreigner who left their country to move to mine; and this time even a change of continents took place.
Julián thinks Kosovo dogs are one of the most friendly ones in the world, but people are very scared of them, they try to push them away or run and scare the dogs, causing them to attack people in return out of fear.
What does Julián like the most about his time in Kosovo?
One of the things Julián likes the most in Kosovo is the feeling of security He first heard about Kosovo in 2015 when talking about Yugoslavia and the Kosovo War (of 1998-99) during his International Relations studies. Six years later, he visited Kosovo for the first time and fell in love with the food and the agriculture in Gjakova where people produce high-quality natural products like cheese, fresh vegetables and fruits, eggs, meat, etc. Julián feels like it’s one of the safest places he has been out of 35 visited so far. He furthermore states that Kosovo has nice hiking places, too.
What doesn’t Julián like about his time in Kosovo?
In his words, Julián “hate[s] that Kosovo is built for cars and not for people and good public transportation.” He states that drivers think they can park anywhere – there is no protection for pedestrians or bikes. Julián also doesn’t like that people can smoke inside public places, and there are butts everywhere.
What’s a MUST-see attraction in Kosovo?
According to Julián, but not only him, the Rugova Mountains and Gërmia National Park are must-see attractions in Kosovo.
